What could be better than driving along on a fine spring afternoon enjoying a country road and listening to music on the radio?

Unfortunately most of us have to drive the city freeways to work, and even satellite radio has the same problem as cable TV- more stations than we can count but nothing worth listening too!

Fortunately there are thousands of MP3 CDs from OTRCAT.com available. You have probably enjoyed them over your computer speakers, but how can you enjoy them in the car?

  1. MANY NEW CARS ALREADY HAVE A MP3 CD PLAYER STEREO
    Check your car manual as many new car stereos (typically 2009+) are already "MP3 enabled" which should play the MP3 CDs.
  2. CAR STEREO AUXILLARY INPUT
    Many old time radio listeners’ car stereos have "axillary" input in their car stereo and can connect with a dual-minijack cable from an external MP3 player (such as an MP3 CD player, iPod or Smart Phone) to play the radio shows through the car stereo.
  3. AM/FM TRANSMITTER
    Other old time radio listeners use a small AM/FM transmitter from their MP3 player and tune the car stereo to the station to play the shows through their speakers.
  4. MP3 CD BOOMBOX
    For a low tech solution, some listeners report simply playing the shows in a MP3 boom box in the car.
  5. AUDIO CDS
    While MP3 CDs provide the flexibility of hours of listening on one disk, some listeners are more comfortable withstandard audio cds which play in any car stereo. The downside of standard audio cds is that they can only hold about one hour of old time radio shows compared to up to 50+ hours on a single MP3 CD.

The best part of having Old Time Radio programs in the car is that the adventures can take you to another time and another land, make you laugh or make you cry, all without your having to take your eyes off the road!

    I have been doing this for years! Makes the commute to and from work so much more enjoyable. Also, when I go out of town on business trips, I take along my radio shows. No other way to travel!

    Your "Listening to Classic Old Time Radio Shows in Your Car" is really good.
    It has ben a couple of years since I have made a lo-o-ong road-trip (to my Aunt Billie's funeral) but I think that ANYONE who can listen to Old Time Radio will recognize how inventive OTR is - as opposed to the childish TV tsunami, or the AWFUL "music radio" venue. Every night, I listen to Jack Benny (from your site) and EVERY episode it truly entertaining.

Donating Old Time Radio Cassette Tapes

Many listeners may have accumulated or inherited large collections of Old Radio Shows on cassette with episodes of  Suspense , Fibber McGee & Molly , Tarzan , Richard Diamond , Archie Andrews & and more .  Old time radio on cassette became popular and replaced 8-tracks in the mid-1980s.  The cassettes may have been enjoyed by previous generations or just enjoyed decades ago who loved collecting & listening to everything old time radio .
